About Us

Before we officially took over the lease on Brierley Waters, it was basically a hole in the ground with some water and fish in it. But Steve Savage, our founder, saw something more.

He envisaged a pond where an angler, no matter what level or physical ability, could come and fish or learn how to fish, whether 8 or 88. There would be no prejudice.

We officially took over Brierley Waters on a six year lease in April, 2012.

Since then we have been awarded a grant from Sport England which enabled us to put in 18 disabled friendly pegs around the pond, 2 of which are double pegs, purchase equipment for coaching sessions and Have-A-Go days.

We have two level 2 angling coaches, Andy Collier and Bill Leake. We can offer coaching 1 to 1 to small groups, depending on the availability of our coaching staff.

We have had pupils from Sutton Academy, who came as part of a scheme from their school, a group of children with varying disabilities from Yeoman Park School in Mansfield Woodhouse and a couple of elderly gentlemen from The Shires care home in Sutton who wanted to get out into the fresh air.

We have hosted Have-A-Go days to coincide with Eric Bone's activity days in the school summer holidays and also run as part of National Fishing Month, we attracted more than 200 children ,boys and girls, over the 4 days.
